Introduction to Soft Pastels – Soft pastels are known for their intense color, velvety texture, and effortless blending. Unlike other painting mediums, pastels don’t require brushes or water – just pure pigment in stick form, allowing for direct and immediate application. We love them for their rich, luminous colors and the ability to create everything from bold, dramatic strokes to delicate, soft shading.
What You’ll Learn in the Workshop – Understanding Pastel Types & Surfaces – Learn about different kinds of pastels (soft and hard) and the best papers for achieving various effects. Blending & Layering Techniques – Discover how to blend colors seamlessly using your fingers and blending tools. Mark-Making & Texture – Experiment with different strokes, hatching, and scumbling to create depth and movement.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll receive step-by-step guidance from an experienced instructor and have the opportunity to complete your own pastel artwork by the end of the session.
All art supplies and materials are included. All students must have basic understanding in composition and proportions in art.
